With the leaves beginning to change colors and school back in session, “Gilmore Girls” is expected to start trending once again.

The show — which was released nearly 24 years ago and has yet to lose popularity since — follows Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter Rorry as they navigate the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut.

Every year during the fall season, a social media revival brings the show and its iconic fashion back to the forefront.

Here is a guide to dressing like a “Gilmore Girl” this fall.

Rory Gilmore

Rory Gilmore — played by Alexis Bledel — is known for her long-sleeved shirts and sweaters, often wearing warmer-toned colors, such as oranges or browns. Along with providing a basic color palette for the show, the colors also happen to fit the fall season perfectly.

One of Rory’s signature looks is her iconic oversized knit sweater, a staple that fans have been recreating for years, coining it “The Rory Gilmore Sweater” on social media.

This sweater is an iconic part of the first episode of the show, still remembered by fans years after the episode aired.

When she’s not in her Chilton Preparatory School uniform, Rory is often seen wearing patterns including stripes and argyle, occasionally paired with a jacket or button-up — a common trend of the early 2000s.

As Rory continues on her journey throughout the series, her style remains sophisticated and chic. If you want to dress like Rory and already have some patterned sweaters in your closet, you are off to a great start.

Lorelai Gilmore

If sweaters aren’t your thing, Lorelai Gilmore — played by Lauren Graham — has a different way to keep things stylish this fall. Almost the opposite of Rory, Lorelai has a more bold and spunky personality, something displayed in her fashion choices.

Rory may like to keep her hair simple, but Lorelai loves to shake things up with different hair accessories, including headbands, bandanas and hats.

Lorelai also loves a good graphic T-shirt, often pairing it with a leather jacket or a zip-up hoodie.

Finishing off an outfit, Lorelai often wore low-rise jeans, paired with boots or tennis shoes.

With fall right around the corner, now would be the perfect time to start planning your fall wardrobe. And what better inspiration is there than the Gilmore Girls?
