Birds are migrating back to Ohio, the days are getting longer and students on campus are slowly coming out of hibernation, which can only mean one thing: spring is just around the corner.
As the fog lifts, the cold fades and the sun pokes its head into the sky, the world is about to be awash with new looks and fresh fits. Here are our fashion predictions for the 2025 spring season.

The first element coming out of the woodwork is maximalism. This trend, while floating in and out of the public sphere for the past year or so, is due to come back in full force. With busy prints and colorful patterns, plan to embrace the warmth of the new season with clothing that matches its energy.

Thrifting is — and has been — all the rage for some time. Achieve the maximalism trend with vintage pieces that highlight loud patterns and unexpected color matches.

Next, we have the scoop neck. For years, the classic V-neck has dominated the industry, being joined by another classic, the high-neck top. According to an article from Who What Wear, high-necked tops were “the most elegant trend of winter 2024.”

Now, though, the scoop neck has returned to claim its place in the neckline hierarchy. An article from Vogue said that the tank is a “basic reimagined in a myriad of ways,” appearing in 2025 showcases from major brands like Hermès, Roberto Cavalli, Christian Dior and Ralph Lauren.

Associated with the Y2K trend and nostalgia, this not-so-new neckline pulls from a similar place as our next prediction: the skirt-over-pants ensemble. While this may seem like a look pulled straight from your third-grade yearbook, this style is quickly coming back into view.

This pairing can elevate your layers and put a fun, bright spin on your spring wardrobe. According to Vogue, brands like Ralph Lauren and Dior Men included this look in their 2025 ready-to-wear collections. While these examples prove more androgynous, the look can also be shifted to heighten femininity.

To bring our predictions to a close, we see “the silhouette” making a grand entrance. Already popularized by garments like the bubble skirt, this new style sheds light on the beauty of a shape. Vogue said that “exaggerated proportions” are the next big thing, highlighting images from the Victoria Beckham Spring 2025 Runway.

This trend encourages asymmetry, bulky fabrics and standing out. Reminiscent of abstract art and sculpture, this eye-catching look rejects judgement and welcomes the weird.
While you may be tempted to pull out your trusty pair of leggings in the warm weather, take a moment to try something new this season. Fashion is taking flight — don’t let it leave you behind.
