Fashion Week Columbus (FWC) is a major fashion event to look forward to. Founded by Thomas McClure back in 2010, FWC produces a full week of fashion-related programs and runway shows that highlight many different designers to the public and media.

FWC is the flagship program of the Columbus Fashion Council, a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving scholarships to fashion students and allowing designers, models, stylists, photographers and fashion businesses to present their work to the fashion community across Central Ohio and beyond.

Looking back at the 2024 season, the theme “Fashion Forward" combined modern and futuristic styles to reflect a retro-inspired look. Main events of the 2024 FWC included the 15th Annual High Fashion Tea Runway Show, Macy’s Fall Fashion Show, Nordstrom Fall Beauty and Fashion Showcase, the Recycled Runway Fashion Show and Competition By Nurtur salon, Philanthropy Meets Fashion by CCAD, FWCurve Premiere Runway Show and the 15th Annual Finale Runway Show.

This year, FWC kicked off on Sunday and will run until Sept. 20. There are many key events and highlights throughout the week, including the 16th Annual High Fashion Tea Runway Show on Sept. 14, presented by ZC Tea, featuring an afternoon of tea and fashion at The Joseph Columbus. The Macy’s Fall Fashion Show on Sept. 15 involved the latest fall fashion trends styled by personal stylists of Macy’s at the Easton Mall.

The Nordstrom Fall Beauty Showcase on Sept. 16 offers a focus on fall beauty styles, with everything from giveaways to makeup tutorials. Following this is the Recycled Runway show, a staple of FWC. This show highlights sustainable fashion as teams create garments from items that would most likely go to waste. Make sure to check out this renewable event on Sept. 17.

Philanthropy Meets Fashion hosted on Sept. 18 will feature a live interview with celebrity fashion designer, Sammy B, along with community networking opportunities at the Cazani Center at the Columbus College of Arts and Design (CCAD). The premier FWCurve Runway Show and Afterparty Marketplace will be showcasing plus-size designers such as Evelyn Smith and Amber Hall at The Junto Hotel on Sept. 19.

To finish out the week strong, Sept. 20 will see the 16th Annual Finale Runway Show at the Hilton Downtown, featuring Sammy B and other emerging designers such as Tiraj Lucas, Xantha Ward and Juan Jose Saenz Ferreyros.

FWC aims to celebrate creativity, community and the future of fashion. It has become more than a fashion event—it brings together the community. According to The Columbus Dispatch, Columbus ranks third in its concentration of fashion designers in the United States, right behind New York and Los Angeles. Make sure to save the date and come to the third largest fashion city in the U.S. to celebrate the art of fashion.
