This Spring, we have much more to look forward to than the warm weather.
On April 25, “Challengers,” a tennis-centered story starring Zendaya, Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor, will be released in theaters across the globe.
“Challengers” — another film by the beloved director Luca Guadagnino, the mastermind behind movies including “Bones and All” (2022) and “Call Me by Your Name” (2017) — follows Tashi Duncan, a world-renowned tennis player turned coach.
Zendaya, who plays Duncan in the film, has had no problem mixing sporty and chic, falling into the theme both on and off the screen. From Paris to Rome, Zendaya has not disappointed with her “Challengers” press tour looks.
To kick off the tennis-focused frenzy, Zendaya flew to Australia, stepping out in a jaw-dropping Loewe gown covered from head to toe in deep green sparkles. To drive home the occasion, the dress featured a silhouette of a woman playing tennis, an ode to her “Challengers” character.
This outing was also the debut of her blonde hair, effectively taking a step away from her recent press tour for Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two.”
“That’s why I dyed my hair,” Zendaya told Vogue in a recent interview. “Just so it felt like a different press tour. A little reset.”
Next stop, Paris, France, where the star showed off a snow-white Louis Vuitton dress, fitted with a chunky white belt and Bulgari jewelry. Unlike the Australia premiere, she let her straight hair flow, mirroring the drapes of the gown.
Though white seems to be Zendaya’s typical shade of choice for this press tour, she implemented variations of spring greens during her Paris press calls. This pop of color complements her newly blonde hair, creating a fully cohesive look.
During her first Paris press call, Zendaya sported a green and white tailored Louis Vuitton coat with white pumps and a headband, followed quickly by a full satin Louis Vuitton suit, shimmering in lime green. The only accessories accompanying this look were a matching green handbag and a pair of metallic heels.
Both looks followed the rest of her press tour’s unspoken theme, mixing clean lines and light colors, embodying a commanding yet flirty fashion sense that perfectly aligns with her no-nonsense character in the film.
Though these choices have been increasingly straightforward, Zendaya’s understated femininity shone through in this next all-white ensemble. While in Rome, the star sported a Calvin Klein blazer and skirt, nailing practical and elegant effortlessly. To top it off, she wore a snake-inspired necklace, a nod to her “Serpenti Collection,” created through her partnership with Bulgari.
Suddenly not so subtle, Zendaya switched things up with two exciting playful outfits. The first, also during her visit to Rome, is a Loewe dress that dives into a low v-neck before melting into the classic pleats of a tennis skirt. Although the dress was stunning, the best detail of this look was the actual tennis balls spiked in her stilettos.
The second, appearing in her recent visit to London, showcased vintage Vivienne Westwood and a completely blonde updo, matched with face-framing bangs. The outfit featured blue and red stripes on a white background and was paired with a quirky burst of feathers below.
Saving the best for last, let’s look at her final piece from London. Zendaya wore an absolutely gorgeous Thom Browne gown on the red carpet, with her favorite white stilettos peeking out from a carefully-placed slit in the side.
Detail-oriented as always, Browne added the classic collar of a tennis uniform, as well as the pleats we know all too well. The floor-length gown also featured embroidered tennis rackets, achieving an almost heart-like shape.
Whether on the court or the red carpet, there’s no denying that Zendaya looks fabulous in everything she wears. We might not know what era she has in store for us next, but we sure know one thing—these “Challengers” press tour looks scored big.
