The 97th Academy Awards ceremony featured some of the toughest decisions yet. With Mikey Madison and Demi Moore up for best actress and Timothee Chalamet, Adrien Brody and Colman Domingo competing for best actor, Hollywood’s biggest stars showed up with their best performances, on the silver screen and the red carpet. Here is a recap of the best looks from last night’s ceremony.

Mikey Madison accepted her very first academy award for best actress, which was also her first Oscar nomination for hit film, Sean Baker’s “Anora.” Madison has had supporting roles in other popular movies such as Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” (2019) and “Scream 5” (2022), but this was her first time in a leading role.
While her character in “Anora,” Ani, is spunky and fiery, Madison wore a look that is chic and elegant. According to Harper’s Bazaar, this sleek dress was made by the Dior Couture Atelier and creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri. It featured a flattering color combination of black and baby pink; the pink bow tied around the waist brought the whole look together and presented Madison as nothing but classy.

With two best picture nominations for James Mangold’s “A Complete Unknown” and Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two,” Chalamet submitted two great performances this year. He was also nominated for best actor for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown.”
Chalamet’s look certainly made him stand out. Men are typically criticized for wearing plain black suits to celebrity events, but Chalamet’s all-yellow ensemble gave him a leg-up. He presented himself in a way that allowed him to have all eyes on him, while not over-dramatizing the look.

Bowen Yang showed up to the Oscars to present the award for best costume design. Yang’s comedic timing and outfit presentation were both on point at last night’s ceremony.
When he wasn’t in his Shiz University uniform that he donned in Jon M. Chu’s “Wicked,” Yang wore a leather jacket embroidered with colorful, floral patterns. The pink undershirt gave the classic black suit a pop of color and truly tied the look together.

After decades of providing audiences with comedic, fun-loving characters, Kieran Culkin showed his true depth. Culkin’s raw, emotional portrayal of Benji in Jesse Eisenberg’s “A Real Pain” left audiences in awe.
While Culkin’s look may seem simple, the small details stole the show. He kept it classic with black pants, a black shirt and a deep green jacket. His look also featured a brooch of emerald, peridot and purple sapphire that held a special meaning. “The stones are in fact the birthstones of his wife, writer Jazz Charton, and their two children,” Lauren Hubbard said according to Town & Country Magazine.

With an ode to her recent performance in Robert Eggers’s “Nosferatu,” Lily-Rose Depp showed up to the Oscars in a dress that completely reflected the film.
According to Elle, the dress took 515 hours to make. The style featured different patterns of florals, lace and sequins. Depp helped present the award for best costume design and proudly wore her custom couture dress as she represented “Nosferatu.”

Two-time nominee Scarlett Johansson stunned photographers and viewers with her Oscar look this year. She presented the award for makeup and hairstyling alongside June Squibb.
Johansson perfectly pulled off the deep blue and silver look. Her velvet blue dress — with gloves to match — draped to the floor, achieving vintage elegance. The silver necklace popped against the blue, understated and just lovely.

Zoe Saldaña’s outfit owned the red carpet with its unique shape and sheer gloves. Saldaña took home her first academy award — best actress in a supporting role — for her performance in Jacques Audiard’s “Emilia Pérez.”
Saldaña showed off the bubble-shaped clothing trend with this burgundy dress, the shade of red complimenting her complexion perfectly. The top of the dress is an interesting addition to the look, the patterned crystals breaking up the top of the dress from the rest.

Rachel Zegler presented alongside Gal Gadot at last night’s ceremony. Zegler’s Dior dress is certainly one to remember.
The nude, sheer gown covered in various crystals and sparkles illuminated Zegler as she took on the red carpet. The slight shade of purple at the bottom of the dress worked perfectly with Zegler’s silver earrings and necklace, complimenting the look’s simple sparkles.

Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan looked timeless as they reunited to present the Academy Award for Best Picture.
Their look was suitably classic, yet luxurious. Crystal wore a simple tuxedo, letting Ryan stand out in her red velvet, strapless dress. Her look was topped off with a thick, silver bracelet that paired wonderfully with the deep red fabric of her gown.
According to an article from E! News, this was Ryan’s first appearance at the Oscars in “nearly 30 years.”
The 97th Oscars Awards ceremony featured Hollywood’s best-dressed as they took the stage to be recognized for their dedication and hardwork. From dresses to suits, each celebrity had something to offer to the red carpet this year.
